Dot Com Mob is our community partner

10% of all sale profits at Thread People are donated directly to the Dot Com Mob. Dot Com Mob supports efforts to supply and sustain free public access to computers and the Internet in remote communities through Indigenous Knowledge and Technology Centres. They organise the resources to ensure that the community is fully equipped to run the technology centres themselves and create their own eCommerce & learning opportunities.

Dot Com Mob has established the first Indigenous Knowledge and Technology Centre (IKTC) in the Northern Queensland town of Hope Vale, which opened in 2008.  Up to 80 local community members access the centre daily to use the computers and participate in ongoing computer training.  This pilot centre has been so successful at engaging local community members and enabling learning that the Dot Com Mob are now rolling out this project nationally to other remote Indigenous communities.
