Arabella Ramsay Fashion

From backyard veggie patches to hand-sewn clothes, everything in fashion and textile designer

Arabella Ramsay’s eponymous Australian clothing label channels a feminine, vintage aesthetic with a

charming, youthful edge. In 2006, two years after studying fashion abroad in Paris, Arabella Ramsay

opened her first store in Australia. Filled with feminine frocks and whimsical prints, the boutique has

gained an adoring cult following who are charmed by Ramsay’s nostalgic folk aesthetic meets rock rebel

style.

Arabella Ramsay’s Home Grown Collection

Arabella Ramsay’s youth was always homemade. Growing up on the family farm in Kyneton, Victoria,

Arabella was constantly surrounded by fresh produce and barnyard animals. Memories of this

carefree existence and barefooted beginning planted the seed for her new, country-inspired

‘homegrown’ range of products.

AR Homegrown is a shabby-chic collection comprising plush, plaid-printed silk pillows and soft

furnishings made from rare French and vintage fabrics. The range also features kitchen and laundry

wares such as shoe and washing bags in graphic canvas with drawstring closures. Crafted from the

highest quality materials, the exclusive designs showcase farmyard prints such as a smiling dog

chasing a barnyard chook in vivid heritage colours of blue and red.

Other products include smaller-version printed make-up pouches and eco-friendly shopping bags in a

riot of colour. The collection also includes aprons and bed-linen in a bold, quilt-like print of rural

American iconography; horse-shoes, stars, deer, bluebirds, wreaths and clovers.

Arabella’s love of homewares was nurtured early on with her parent’s gourmet food stores, Darriwill

Farms, and extended through to the decoration of her own home in Melbourne. Magazine editors

adore her colourful eclecticism and Arabella’s house has been featured in a number of interior

publications. The skilled textile designer began producing a popular range of soft furnishings and

cushions alongside her eponymous fashion label two years ago, but 2008 marks her foray into the

highly anticipated and extensive AR Homegrown range of products.

The durable collection is designed for regular use and practical wear in all seasons. Its mismatched

blend of homespun charm has been crafted with all the love of a small town girl and is the perfect

addition to a comfortable, cosy, happy home.
