Model of the Moment – Abbey-Lee Kershaw
I think I have a girl crush. Ok, so it’s more of an over obsessive, stalker-ish love, but I just can’t get enough of Aussie beauty Abbey-Lee Kershaw. She has quickly risen through the ranks and is currently one of the most coveted faces of fashion.
After winning the 2004 Girlfriend Model Search Abbey-Lee swiftly shot to fame and within the last few years has dominated the international catwalks and magazines alike. At the recent Milan Spring/Summer 2010 shows Kershaw was dubbed ‘everybody’s favourite new model.’ With her innocent beauty, striking icy blue eyes and distinctive nose ring, how could you not be captivated?
What comes up must come down; she has recently drawn some controversy amongst one of the fashion elite. During Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2009 show Kershaw fainted after having to wear one of his super-tight corsets. However, the latest McQueen controversy came at the Spring 2010 show when she and two fellow models dropped out after refusing to wear his claw inspired shoes believing they were too dangerous.
Abbey-Lee continues to take the world by storm appearing in shoots for Dazed and Confused, i-D, Harper’s, Purple Magazine, V Magazine Bazaar, Italian Vogue, Japanese Vogue and the iconic Australian Vogue shoot alongside fellow Aussie Catherine McNeil. Kershaw and McNeil are two of our hottest exports yet admit to enjoying the simplistic things in life opting to “sit around in our undies with a beer, a salad, good music and just chat and laugh.”
Abbey-Lee is watched just as closely for her fashion attire off the catwalk as she is on. She is the epitome of the ‘model off duty’ look and can be summed up as a quirky/grudge goddess. Floral mini dresses, grudge boots, denim cut offs and relaxed jackets and coats are all part of Abby’s closet must haves.
She is definitely one model, muse and style icon we’re proud to call our own and I don’t see Kershaw disappearing off the radar anytime in the near future.
